The Alpine Crevice and Native Garden

We are pleased to announce the completion of a new area of the garden! The Alpine Crevice and Native Garden is the only public crevice garden in Calgary. This project was created in partnership with the CRAGS - Calgary Rock & Alpine Garden Society who worked closely with our volunteers to complete this garden.

 

Some interesting facts:
• Over 800 volunteer hours since work started in 2016
• 36 individuals volunteered
• Over 225 alpine plants in the two crevice mounds
• Almost 200 chinook zone Alberta native plants in the rock and gravel area surrounding the crevice garden

 

Luckily the garden was photographed a few days before the snow. There are still some protective fences around the garden to protect it for the winter but please stop by and take a look!
